The Babysitter

It’s a tale as old as time

And yet, it stings

Thought they were being helpful

Whole time, they’re sniffing out the demon’s wings

We invited her to join a family outing

All the parents there were cheering and shouting

The soccer match was a ball

Didn’t know then how things would fall

Came to my door with a smile

Wanted to play with my son

Couldn’t see it for a mile

How her manipulation and fake charm won

We scheduled her to go on dates

‘Cuz he liked to call it “fate”

Truth was, it was a last-ditch effort

The spark was gone, only thing left were cans of hurt

The way she looked at him in my son’s playroom

It was instant, I could feel the doom

He watched from the door like a creep

There in my bones it went down deep

She wore a T-shirt from his college that night

I will absolutely put up a fight

Picking sides right from the jump

I refuse to join your burning dump

Wanted my money, my home, my life

I hope she ends up with all the strife

I’m not worried though

God has got me, still going with the flow

He tries to get revenge on me

Can’t ever just let me be

Always felt smothered

I need space to be a good mother

He will never have anyone better than me

Because we all can see that what he needs

Is a coward, a liar and a thief

Can’t make me fooled, I already healed my grief.
